Small Satellite Conference

In August 2024, Midshipmen Josh Moran, James Roney and Khush Thakor attended the Small Satellite Conference in Logan, Utah, accompanied by Aerospace Engineering faculty Dr. Jin Kang and CAPT Mike Sanders and SSEL engineer Christine Maceo.  MIDN Moran and Thakor presented "Results from On-Orbit Operation of CubeSat-Scale Robotic Arms on the International Space Station," highlighting the details of remote robotic arm operations of RSat.  RSat was a 3U CubeSat designed, built and operated by midshipmen to demonstrate the feasibility of on-orbit satellite repair, service, and assembly using small-scale robotic satellites.  Conducted on the ISS, RSat operations included real-time ground observation through video live-feed and image downloads, which were incorporated into the presentation.
