USMA Collaborates with Navy Space for USNA-16 Build

POSTED ON: Monday, February 24, 2025 8:00 AM by Christine Maceo

Cadets from USMA visited USNA from February 21-22, 2025 to deliver solar panel printed circuit boards and to assemble the solar panels for USNA-16, the 3U CubeSat designed and built by midshipmen Capstone students as part of the Naval Academy Small Satellite Program (NASSP).  In addition to the solar panel assembly, USMA cadets collaborated with the midshipmen team to design the Switchboard on the satellite.

USNA-16 is the first NASSP satellite to include the Naval Academy Standard Bus (NASB), a modular solution to CubeSat development.  While at USNA, the cadets helped midshipmen from Navy Space assemble the first layer of the satellite to prepare it for environmental testing in April 2025.  USNA-16 will launch into low-earth orbit in Fall 2025.
