FIRST Robotics Competition 2022
POSTED ON: Sunday, January 23, 2022 12:00 AM by Patricia Meinhold
On January 23, 2022, nine Midshipmen supported a local FIRST® Robotics First Tech Challenge (FTC) event by serving as Judges via a virtual format. Thirty-five teams in the DC Region went head-to-head in a day-long competition at one of the sites procured by FIRST® Chesapeake, which sought to maximize the number of competitors in the current COVID-19 environment while reducing the number of on-site volunteers. The judges interviewed teams via Zoom and then deliberated to determine award recipients. Congratulations to all who competed and to award winners.
The Midshipmen received training in order to support this event, and many of the Mids are former FIRST® team members. They continue the USNA tradition of assisting with events at the FTC level. Many thanks to the nine Midshipmen who gave up their weekend day in order to serve: Ben Currey, Lian Dunlevy, Shane Fagan, Jonny Huang, Mae Myers, Ben Negron, Kayla Sim, Alex Toner, and Courtney Tse.
