SET Sail STEM Educator Training is a week-long residential professional development program for middle and high school teachers, offered at the U.S. Naval Academy each summer. Workshops cover a range of science and engineering topics delving into hands-on teaching strategies and Navy relevant applications. Close to 100 teachers attended the July 2022 training, with one session for teachers from DoDEA schools around the nation and overseas, and a second session for teachers in public and private schools all over the country.
The educational influence of this program is far reaching and impacts not just the individual educators who participate in the training, but also has a sustainable impact on their schools, colleagues, students, and future students as well.
USNA STEM Educator programs are sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, DoD STEM, and the Naval Academy Foundation with generous support from Northrop Grumman and Dr. Ernst Volgenau.
