The USNA STEM Center and the Office of Admissions presented "STEM on Deck" at the U.S. Naval Academy on Saturday Aug, 27. Almost 200 high school students traveled to USNA from across 32 states to participate in this day-long event. Students attended hands-on academic and laboratory sessions across a range of science, engineering, and math fields. Faculty and midshipmen led students in conducting laboratory experiments and tackling engineering challenges. Topics included machine learning, engineering design, biotechnology, soldering, cybersecurity, facial recognition, gliders and rockets, circuits, bridge building, and fibonacci sequence.
"I enjoyed being able to talk with midshipmen about classes and the academy itself and getting exposure to the different facilities and majors," shared one participant. The event was successful in exposing students to exciting opportunities at USNA and in STEM fields.
