Wildwood Academy STEM Day 2022

On October 28, the USNA STEM Center held a STEM Day at Wildwood Catholic Academy located in North Wildwood, NJ with a full day of hands-on STEM activities for the middle and high school students. USNA STEM Center faculty and staff and six midshipmen engaged the students in applied science, math, and engineering topics.

In the morning, over 90 middle school students participated in a STEM Fair format where students built catapults, rockets, and made lather prints. These topics in engineering design, flight principles, and surfactants exposed students to STEM career possibilities and real-world applications. 

In the afternoon, over 135 ninth to twelfth grade students participated in modules in biotechnology, electrical etching, machine learning, rockets, and robotics. These topics engaged students in problem-solving and critical thinking skills, while providing a time for students to interact with midshipmen.
