“Energy security is an increasingly crucial theater of global competition." The need for "a reliable, diversified, and affordable supply of energy to drive our Nation's manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, and defense industries, and to sustain the basics of modern life and military preparedness" and "the integrity and expansion of our Nation's energy infrastructure" are "immediate and pressing" priorities for national and economic security.
-Declaring a National Energy Emergency

Welcome to the U.S. Naval Academy Interdisciplinary Center for Energy Security and Infrastructure Resilience (CESIR). Our focus is to educate future Navy and Marine Corps officers on issues related to energy security and infrastructure resilience as they relate to national security.
The Center coordinates efforts and fosters collaboration within and outside the Naval Academy. Midshipmen, faculty, and staff in both academic and non-academic departments may participate in combined efforts of education and research.
The initial primary goal of CESIR is to integrate relevant material into existing courses offered to Midshipmen, and to serve as a focal point and source of opportunities for interested Midshipmen. In addition, new elective courses will be added to the Naval Academy’s course catalog. Topical special lectures will also be offered on a regular basis.
CESIR will provide additional professional training opportunities for Midshipmen, and enhance Midshipmen and faculty research through collaborations with U.S. government agencies, other universities, and industry.
