About Us
The mission of the United States Naval Academy Pistol Team is to provide midshipmen with the opportunity to compete in Olympic-style Pistol Shooting disciplines.
Air Pistol
The Air Pistol event consists of 60 shots fired within a time limit of an hour and 15 minutes using an air-powered .177 caliber pistol. This event is an extreme a test of both physical and mental discipline, as the small target size leaves very little room for error.

Sport Pistol
The Sport Pistol event consists of a Slow Fire stage (6 relays of 5 shots in 5 minutes) and a Rapid Fire stage (6 relays of 5 shots, each shot fired within 3 second intervals) using a semiautomatic .22 caliber pistol. This event tests a shooter's ability to consistently and accurately fire a smallbore pistol, with an added emphasis on efficient lifting of the pistol during the Rapid Fire stage.

Standard Pistol
The Standard Pistol event consists of a Slow Fire stage (4 relays of 5 shots in 5 minutes), a Timed Fire stage (4 relays of 5 shots in 20 seconds), and a Rapid Fire stage (4 relays of 5 shots in 10 seconds) using a semiautomatic .22 caliber pistol. This event tests a shooter's accuracy and consistency much like the Sport Pistol event, but adds the extra challenge of reliably firing subsequent follow-up shots during the Timed Fire and Rapid Fire stages.
