
Induction Day marks the beginning of Plebe Summer. It includes the in-processing of the entire Plebe regiment and an Oath of Office Ceremony. Members of the Plebe class are also afforded time to say goodbye to family and friends prior to beginning their indoctrination into life as a Midshipman.

Plebe Summer is a 7-week long indoctrination period at the Naval Academy that all midshipmen must complete prior to beginning their first academic semester. The purpose of Plebe Summer is to lay the foundation of the Academy's four-year professional development curriculum.

Plebe Parents' Weekend
Plebe Parents' Weekend is designed to offer parents, family members and guests an opportunity to visit with their Midshipman and experience a taste of the traditions, academics, and atmosphere unique to the Naval Academy prior to the start of the Fall Term.

Parents' Weekend offers an exceptional opportunity for parents to visit with their midshipman in the historic surroundings of the Academy and the town of Annapolis and to expand their knowledge of the traditions, academic life and unique atmosphere of the Naval Academy.

Retirement Ceremonies
The Office of Special Events at the United States Naval Academy coordinates retirement ceremonies for eligible Alumni, as well as any military service member currently stationed at USNA. We will be happy to provide you with assistance in venue selection and reservation, time deconfliction, post-ceremony reception options as well as many other coordination items.

The Naval Academy plebe (freshman) class endures 14 hours of rigorous physical and mental challenges during the Academy’s annual Sea Trials training exercise as part of the culmination of their plebe year.

Commissioning Week
Commissioning Week honors the First Class midshipmen upon completion of four years at Naval Academy. Parents, family members and guests are invited to attend a series of events at the Naval Academy in honor of the graduates including the Blue Angels Flight Demonstration, Color Parade, special awards ceremonies, and musical performances.
