MILESTONES
Major events in the life of a USNA midshipman
Throughout a midshipman's time here at the Naval Academy, there will be many significant milestones that we celebrate. These include Induction Day (I-Day), Plebe Summer, Plebe Parents Weekend, Second Class Parents' Weekend and Commissioning Week. Below is a brief description of each of these milestones as well as links to additional information.

I-Day

Induction Day marks the beginning of Plebe Summer. It includes the in-processing of the entire Plebe regiment and an Oath of Office Ceremony. Members of the Plebe class are also afforded time to say goodbye to family and friends prior to beginning their indoctrination into life as a Midshipman.

Plebe Summer

Plebe Summer is a 7-week long indoctrination period at the Naval Academy that all midshipmen must complete prior to beginning their first academic semester. The purpose of Plebe Summer is to lay the foundation of the Academy's four-year professional development curriculum.

Plebe Parents' Weekend

Plebe Parents' Weekend

Plebe Parents' Weekend is designed to offer parents, family members and guests an opportunity to visit with their Midshipman and experience a taste of the traditions, academics, and atmosphere unique to the Naval Academy prior to the start of the Fall Term.

2/C Parents' Weekend

2/C Parents' Weekend

Parents' Weekend offers an exceptional opportunity for parents to visit with their midshipman in the historic surroundings of the Academy and the town of Annapolis and to expand their knowledge of the traditions, academic life and unique atmosphere of the Naval Academy.

Sea Trials

Commissioning Week

Commissioning Week

Commissioning Week honors the First Class midshipmen upon completion of four years at Naval Academy. Parents, family members and guests are invited to attend a series of events at the Naval Academy in honor of the graduates including the Blue Angels Flight Demonstration, Color Parade, special awards ceremonies, and musical performances.
