Strategic Plan 2030

Mission, Vision, & Values

Mission

To develop midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor, and loyalty in order to graduate leaders who are dedicated to a career of naval service and have potential for future development in mind and character, to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship, and government.

Vision

The premier leadership and educational institution for developing naval officers who will preserve peace and prevail in conflict.

Values

As an institution, we are guided by the same values as our Navy and Marine Corps:

HONOR is the foundation we use to conduct ourselves in the highest ethical manner. It is our uncompromising and implicit bond of trust: to be forthright in all personal and professional matters and fully accountable for our decisions and actions. Our honor is at the core of that trust, knowing we will treat one another with dignity and respect and act with integrity, regardless of the personal cost or consequence.

COURAGE is the moral, mental, and physical strength to overcome challenges and master fear. It is leading by example, adhering to the highest standards of personal conduct, holding others to these same high standards, and making tough decisions under stress and pressure. Courage is necessary to do what is right and meet the demands of our profession in the face of adversity.

COMMITMENT is the selfless dedication of each individual to the team, the service, and the nation. It is doing one’s duty in all things and at all times with fidelity, and is essential to long-term readiness, mission accomplishment, and the success of our profession. Commitment is devoting ourselves to our institution and heritage, always aspiring to achieve excellence in every endeavor.
