Professional Bio:

Alexander R. Davies is an Instructor of Practical Application in the Department of Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences at the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) where he develops and teaches innovative laboratory exercises focused on geophysical fluid dynamics, applied data science applications, and field data collection. Davies also serves as the Department’s Environmental Data Manager (https://edmaps.usna.edu/) and provides impact-based decision support services to stakeholders at USNA and across the broader community as the Command Meteorologist (https://usna.edu/Weather/).

He earned a B.S. in Meteorology and a B.S. in Ocean Sciences and Coastal Studies, with a concentration in Physical Oceanography, from Millersville University in 2010. He later earned a M.S. in Physical Ocean Science and Engineering from the University of Delaware in 2014. His research interests encompass high tide coastal flooding, intraseasonal ocean and estuarine variability, and the atmospheric marine boundary layer.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions, Davies was honored with the U.S. Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 2020.
