Advanced Research Computing Support (ARCS)
The Advanced / Research Computing Support (ARCS) Group is a part of The Office of Academic Research of the Faculty Enhancement Center at the U. S. Naval Academy (USNA). The ARCS Group is responsible for supporting advanced and research computing efforts of students and faculty members at USNA. This includes supporting:
- High performance computing facilities
- Research workstations
- Advanced applications
- Computing efforts of individual researchers.
- Advanced computing for coursework and special student projects
The computing facilities consist of high performance computing equipment, including clusters and servers with multiple multi-core processors and relatively large amounts of memory and disk storage. Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems are supported.
Various specialized mathematics, science and engineering application software packages are supported. They include support for such processing requirements as:
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
The ARCS Group is staffed by General Services Information Technology (IT) Specialists. Their offices and support facilities are located in Michelson Hall, room 304.
