The Class Of 1963 Center For Academic Excellence (CAE) Was Founded In 1989 As The Academic Center.  In 2003 Our Name Was Changed To The Class Of 1963 Center For Academic Excellence In Honor Of The Class Of 1963 And Their Substantial Support Of The Academic Center.

In 2020, Ron Terwilliger USNA '63 Became The Largest Individual Donor In USNA's History By Bequeathing a Substantial Endowment To The CAE. When Realized, These Contributions Will Fund The CAE At Its Current Level Of Operations In Perpetuity.

In Recognition Of The Generous Support Of These Donors, The CAE Was Officially Rechristened The Class Of 1963 Center For Academic Excellence, Endowed By J. Ronald Terwilliger ’63 And Classmates.

We Thank Them For Their Legacy And Support To Those Who Follow!

The Class of 1963 Center for Academic Excellence offers the highest quality academic support programs for all midshipmen seeking to improve their academic performance.

Our Location

The CAE is located in the Levy Center (2nd Deck), around the corner from the Chaplain Center and beneath the Honor Court. The entrance to the CAE is up the stairs of the beautiful CDR Howard R. Berlin Atrium, located across from the Jewish Chapel in Mitscher Hall. Separately, the Writing & Communication Center is located on the 1st deck of Nimitz Library, through the main entrance and to the left. We've included a map below for your convenience.
