Shirley Lin is the Interim Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. A native of Amherst, MA, she earned her BS in Chemistry with a minor in Writing and Humanistic Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1995) and her PhD in Chemistry at Stanford University (2000). Following a NIH postdoctoral fellowship at The Scripps Research Institute, she joined the faculty at USNA in 2002. Her research interests include catalysis and organometallic chemistry as well as chemistry education research.

Julie Zhu is the Associate Director for Instructional Design and Technology Integration at the U.S. Naval Academy. She earned her M.A. in Educational Technology from the University of Northern Colorado (2001) and her Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from the Pennsylvania State University (2006). After earning her Ph.D., Julie Zhu became a professional in the field of Instructional Design, Development, and Technology Integration. She works closely with USNA faculty to provide support in integrating a variety of existing and emerging educational technologies into the teaching and learning processes and consults with faculty on using good pedagogy for teaching with technology.

Commander Angel Rodriguez is the Associate Director for Military Instructor Development in the Center for Teaching and Learning. A first-generation native of New York and a 2000 graduate of St. John's University, NY, with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics magna cum laude. He received his commission through Officer Candidate School in May 2000. CDR Rodriguez holds graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, Engineering Science and Information Systems/Operations With Distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School and Engineering Management from Old Dominion University. Upon selection as a Permanent Military Professor, he earned his doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering and his research focuses on multiphase flow dynamics and advanced measurement techniques, evaluated in a thermo-fluids transport lab, that he designed and utilizes to supervise Midshipmen in technical research. CDR Rodriguez has served on three submarines and multiple shore assignments related to submarine operations.
