Commissioning Week

Commissioning Week honors the First Class Midshipmen upon completion of four years at Naval Academy. Parents, family members and guests are invited to attend a series of events at the Naval Academy in honor of the graduates including the Blue Angels Flight Demonstration, Color Parade, special awards ceremonies, and musical performances.

Due to ongoing construction of Hopper Hall, parking on the Naval Academy will be extremely limited.  Visitors and guests are highly encouraged to park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and utilize the free shuttle bus service.  More information can be found here.


To view Graduation on your computer:

For those who will not be attending the event, the Naval Academy Multimedia Support Center will provide live coverage of the 2020 Graduation and Commissioning Ceremony beginning at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Television coverage will not be provided. 

In the event of inclement weather, determination of the graduation site will be made early Friday morning and posted on the USNA website.

Alumni Hall is the designated indoor site in the event of inclement weather. Only designated indoor ticket holders will be admitted.

Gate Information During Commissioning Week 2020:

  • Gate 1 - vehicular access from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. (1:00 a.m. on Fri & Sat)
  • Gate 1 - pedestrian access from 5 a.m.-midnight (2:00 a.m. on Fri & Sat)
  • Gate 3 - pedestrian access from 6 a.m.- 8 p.m. (no vehicular access)
  • Gate 8 - pedestrian/vehicular access 24 hours

19 & 20 May: All gates will be closed to vehicular traffic (except emergency vehicles) from 1100 until approx 1600

21 May: All gates will be closed to vehicular traffic (except emergency vehicles) from 1045 until approx 1215
