LT Nina Pershall, a native of Warwick, Rhode Island, earned her commission from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Chinese and Political Science in May 2017.

Following commissioning, LT Pershall reported to Yokosuka, Japan onboard USS BENFOLD (DDG 65) as the Gunnery Officer. After earning her Surface Warfare Officer pin, she fleeted up to become the Fire Control Officer. During her time onboard BENFOLD she participated in multiple Freedom of Navigation Operations in the South China Sea, Taiwan Straits Transits, national Ballistic Missile Defense tasking, and multilateral exercises with U.S. partners and allies.

LT Pershall reported to the United States Naval Academy in the Summer of 2022.

Her personal awards include one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and one Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
