Born in Bristol, TN, Captain Taylor received an athletic scholarship for swimming and graduated from King University in Bristol, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History with a Minor in Security and Intelligence Studies, magna cum laude, in May 2013. Captain Taylor went on to attended Savannah Law School, a satellite of Atlanta's John Marshal Law School, in Savannah, Georgia, and earned his Juris Doctorate in May 2018, and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in May 2019.
Captain Taylor graduated from Officer Candidates' School and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in November 2020. Directly after commissioning, he attended The Basic School and graduated in June 2021.
In March 2022, Captain Taylor reported to the Law Center, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD PISC), Parris Island, South Carolina. Shortly upon arrival, he attended the Naval Justice School and graduated in July 2022 and thereafter returned to MCRD PISC where he served as a Series Commander with Fox Company, Second Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment (RTR) from August 2022 until July 2023. On 1 August 2023, Captain Taylor was promoted to his current rank of Captain. Captain Taylor continued serving as a Series Commander with November Company, Third Recruit Training Battalion, RTR until September 2023. Captain Taylor then served as a Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for MCRD PISC and the Eastern Recruiting Region (ERR) from September 2023 to March 2024. He reported to the Law Center aboard MCRD PISC in March of 2024 where he served as government Trial Counsel, and the Special Assistant United States Attorney for both MCAS Beaufort and MCRD PISC. In September 2025, Captain Taylor reported to the Victims' Legal Counsel Organization where he served the ERR, Depot, and surrounding commands as the Victims' Legal Counsel until June 2026. Captain Taylor reported to the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, in June 2026 where he currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Military Law.
Captain Taylor's professional military education includes: The Basic School's Basic Officer Course; Naval Justice School's Basic Legal Course and Military Justice Orientation Course; Series Commander Course; the Judge Advocate Genera's Legal Center and School's Special Victims' Counsel Certification Course; and he is currently enrolled in the third semester of Expeditionary Warfare School (Distance Education).
Captain's Taylor's awards include the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Drill Instructor Ribbon.
