Biography

U.S. Rep. Nick LaLota represents New York's First Congressional District. He attended the United States Naval Academy from 1996-2000 and then served as a Surface Warfare Officer. He was the Assistant Operations Officer on the USS Curts and as a Tactical Action Officer on USS Carl Vinson, a nuclear powered Aircraft Carrier. Since 2008, he has served in different leadership roles in local government on Long Island, most recently serving as Chief of Staff to the Suffolk County Legislature. Prior to being the County Legislature’s Chief of Staff, Nick served as Commissioner of the Suffolk County Board of Elections. He graduated cum laude from Hofstra University’s Zarb School of Business with a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and holds a Juris Doctor from Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Deane School of Law. He was elected as a Republican to the 118th Congress January 3, 2023. He was re-elected in 2024 to the 119th Congress, serving a second term.
