CAPT Jaja Marshall, USN
Captain Jaja J. E. Marshall is from Queens, New York. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1997 with Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering.
His division officer tours were in San Diego, California aboard now decommissioned USS McClusky (FFG 41), as Damage Control Assistant then on USS Princeton (CG 59) as Combat Information Center Officer.
For his department head tours Captain Marshall was the Operations Officer in USS Stout (DDG 55) based in Norfolk, Virginia then as Staff Operations Officer for Commander Destroyer Squadron Fifteen (DESRON 15) embarked on decommissioned USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan.
Captain Marshall served as Executive officer of USS Hopper (DDG 70) from April 2013 to November 2014 then as Commanding officer of USS Hopper from November 2014 to April 2016 homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Subsequently, he served as Surface Operations and Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations for Carrier Strike Group Two (CSG 2) embarked on USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) in Norfolk, Virginia until January 2018.
Ashore, Captain Marshall served in staff of Commander Naval Surface Forces Pacific then as flag aide to both Commander, U.S. THIRD Fleet and Director, Navy Staff in Navy headquarters (OPNAV) Washington DC. He completed Pentagon assignments as budget analyst in the Navy Budget Office (FMB), Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Financial Management & Comptroller (ASN FM&C). Later served as the Assistant Director and Executive Assistant for Deputy ASN Budget (Navy Budget Officer) in Department of the Navy.
He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in June 2003 with a Master in Business Administration (MBA) in Financial Management as member of the inaugural MBA class.
He is a 2020 graduate of Dwight Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, National Defense University with a concentration in Supply Chain Management.
He served on Joint Staff J-3 as division chief for J-35 Joint Operations Division U.S. Central Command (JODCENT) and Joint Operations Division U.S. Southern Command. Then he reported to OPNAV N80 as Resourcing Branch Head (N804) in June 2022. He reported to the U. S. Naval Academy in May 2024.
