Chaplain Short is a South Carolina native. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministry and Youth Ministry from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL, and a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. Chaplain Short is ordained and endorsed by the Assemblies of God.

In 2013, Chaplain Short was commissioned a Lieutenant Junior Grade and reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 in Gulfport, MS.   While assigned to NMCB 133 she was deployed twice to Rota, Spain with extensive travel supporting 26 detachments around the world including Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Chaplain Short reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 15 in Camp Pendleton, CA in June, 2016. She deployed with CLB 15 in support of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit for WESTPAC 17-2 in 7th Fleet and 5th Fleet areas of responsibility.  Following redeployment to Camp Pendleton, Chaplain Short reported to 1st Maintenance Battalion as Battalion Chaplain.

Chaplain Short received orders to the United States Naval Academy and reported in November 2018 as 1st Battalion Chaplain.

LT Short is a Fleet Marine Force Qualified Officer. Her personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of second award), with other campaign and service awards.
