Captain Jason Grant, a native of Mandeville, Jamaica and Miami, FL, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organizational Leadership from Regent University, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management.
Upon graduation from the Naval Academy, he reported aboard USS HAWES (FFG-53) as the Damage Control Assistant and received his designation as a Surface Warfare Officer. He then reported to USS PONCE (LPD-15), in 2004, as the Training Officer. For his follow-on assignment, in 2006, he went on to NATO Supreme Allied Command Transformation as the Department Head for the NATO Communication, Information, and Systems. It was during this tour that he re-designated as a Human Resources Officer.
In 2007 he went to Navy Recruiting District Chicago, as the Department Head for Enlisted Programs. He next joined, in 2010, the staff of the Chief of Naval Personnel (CNP), as a Manpower Requirements Officer and then as the Deputy Executive Assistant to the Assistant Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Manpower, Personnel, Training & Education (OPNAV N1B).
In 2012 he went on as the Officer-in-Charge, Personnel Support Detachment Great Lakes. His follow-on assignment in 2014 was US Africa Command (USAFRICOM), Stuttgart, Germany, as the Joint Manpower Management Officer. He then went in 2017 as the Executive Officer of Recruit Training Command. He next joined in 2019 the Chief of Naval Personnel (CNP), as the Deputy Director, 21st Century Sailor Office. His follow-on assignment, in 2021, was on the Director of the Navy Staff (DNS), as the Deputy Director, Field Support Activity.
Captain Grant was selected as a Permanent Military Professor in 2024. Captain Grant is authorized to wear the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and other unit and service recognition.
