Lieutenant Commander Moffitt is a native of Niskayuna, NY. He graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2007, earning a B.S. in Quantitative Economics and a commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy.  Following joint flight training with the Air Force, ENS Moffitt reported to Tinker AFB and to the “Shadows” of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron FOUR (VQ-4) as an E-6B “Mercury” pilot. During his tour with the Shadows, LT Moffitt deployed multiple times with independent crews in support of CDRUSSTRATCOM operations, qualifying as an E-6B Aircraft Commander, Mission Commander, and ultimately Instructor Pilot.

During his disassociated sea tour, LT Moffitt served as a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer (“Shooter”) onboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), in Yokosuka, Japan, supporting international operations with 7th Fleet and the Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF).

Ashore, LCDR Moffitt is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy’s Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Master’s Program. During his prior tour at USNA, he served as the 13th Company Officer, 3rd Battalion Executive Officer, and Aviation Practicum Course Coordinator. As a Department Head, LCDR Moffitt served as the Operations Officer of Training Squadron THREE (VT-3), onboard NAS Whiting Field, FL, where he most recently completed a tour as an Instructor Pilot in the T-6B Texan II.

LCDR Moffitt is a 2013 graduate of the University of Maryland and a 2017 graduate of the U.S. Naval War College, where he earned Master’s degrees in Professional Studies and Defense and Strategic Studies, respectively. His awards and decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and numerous service and unit awards.
