LCDR Marina Touw is originally from Williamsburg, VA. She commissioned in May 2013 from the United States Naval Academy. She reported to USS CARNEY (DDG 64) in Mayport, FL in August 2013 as the Operations Intelligence Division Officer and completed a Fifth and Sixth Fleet independent deployment.
LCDR Touw fleeted up onboard USS CARNEY, seeing the ship through a homeport shift to Rota, Spain. She reported as the Damage Control Assistant (DCA) in October 2015 and completed two Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) patrols in the Mediterranean and Black Seas, led the Naval Surface Fire Support team as the Gunnery Liaison Officer during Operation Odyssey Lightning, and completed Fleet Officer’s Sea Training (FOST) with the Royal Navy.
LCDR Touw earned a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership Education and Development from the George Washington University in May 2018. She served as the 28th Company Officer at the U.S. Naval Academy from May 2018- May 2019 and as the Executive Assistant to the Commandant of Midshipmen from May 2019 - June 2020.
LCDR Touw reported to Newport, RI for Department Head School class 260 in August 2020. Following DH school graduation in February 2021, she reported to USS ZUMWALT as the Weapons Officer in June 2021. As Weapons Officer she saw ZUMWALT through a first-in-class basic phase, SESI, 3 live-fire missile events, and a C3F/C7F Deployment. She reported back to ZUMWALT in October 2022 as Plans and Tactics Officer. She lead ZUMWALT’s participation in Joint Exercise Northern Edge, and coordinated ZUMWALT’s homeport change from San Diego, CA to Pascagoula, MS. She was selected as a Permanent Military Instructor in leadership and reported to the US Naval Academy in July 2024 as an NL310 instructor.
Her personal awards include four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
