Musician 1st Class Mark Huskey

Musician 1st Class Mark Huskey is originally from Winchester, Tennessee. He studied at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts, New England Conservatory, Cleveland Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and Lynn Conservatory. His primary teachers include Robert Gifford, Judy Grant, Doriot Anthony Dwyer, Joshua Smith, and Jeffrey Khaner.
Huskey has appeared with the San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, California Chamber Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, New World Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, New Mexico Philharmonic, and Fort Worth Symphony.
In 2015, Huskey enlisted in the Navy and upon graduation from RTC Great Lakes, reported to the Naval School of Music at JEB Little Creek, VA. His subsequent duty stations include Navy Band Southwest in San Diego, California, and Fleet Forces Band in Norfolk, Virginia. In his time at these stations he served as Unit Leader of the Woodwind Quintet, Woodwind Section Leader, Wind Ensemble Concertmaster, Head of Tour Operations, Head Librarian, Building Manager, and as an assistant in Operations, Travel, and Productions.
In 2022, Huskey auditioned and was selected for assignment to the U.S. Naval Academy Band. He reported to Annapolis in August 2022 for duty as flute instrumentalist with the marching band and ceremonial units, wind ensemble, chamber winds, and wind trio. In addition to his performance duties, Huskey serves as Travel Coordinator, Audition Assistant, Building Maintenance Supervisor Assistant, and Enlisted representative for the USNA Marathon Team.
Huskey's awards include Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), the Navy Good Conduct Medal (two awards), and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal (two awards).
