Musician 1st Class Daniel Meadows

Musician 1st Class Daniel Meadows is a native of Nesconset, New York on Long Island. After earning his Bachelor of Music Education at the Crane School of Music at State University of New York Potsdam, he continued on to earn a Master of Music in saxophone performance at Arizona State University. His principal teachers include Dr. Christopher Creviston and Dr. Robert Young.

Meadows was a finalist in the 2016 Music Teachers National Association and the 2016 North American Saxophone Alliance chamber music competitions with the Drosera Saxophone Quartet. In the course of his studies, he shared the stage with great musicians including Cyrille Aimee, Benny Golson, Gunther Schuller, The Mambo Legends Orchestra, Wayne Bergeron, Andy Martin, and Joe Alessi.

Meadows began his military career with the U.S. Navy in 2017. Upon graduation of Musician “A” School, he was selected for assignment to U.S. Pacific Fleet Band in Honolulu, Hawaii. Meadows then auditioned and was selected for assignment to the U.S. Naval Academy Band in 2019. He reported for duty in February 2020 as a saxophone instrumentalist with the marching band and ceremonial units, wind ensemble, Superintendent’s Combo, and Blues & Gold. Meadows serves as the band’s Head Drum Major, Marching Band Unit Leader, Band Command Fitness Leader, and Unit Leader for the Bravo Zulu Brass Band.

Meadows’ awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and the Navy Good Conduct Medal (two awards).
