Musician 1st Class Lourdes Rodriguez
Vocalist
Musician 1st Class Lourdes Rodriguez grew up in Hyattsville, Maryland. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory, and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Maryland Opera Studio at the University of Maryland. Her teachers include Dr. Theresa-Rose Bickham, Dr. Fotina Naumenko, and Dr. Chelsea Melamed-Cushman.
Rodriguez has performed as a soloist and ensemble member both domestically and abroad. Her operatic credits include Adele in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II at Middlebury College’s German for Singers program in Scharbeutz, Germany. With the Maryland Opera studio, Rodriguez performed as Pueblo in Orgullo by Christian De Gré Cárdenas, and reprised the role in September of 2024 off-broadway at Joe’s Public Theater in New York City. More roles with the Maryland Opera Studio include Despina in Così Fan Tutte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in November 2024 and Anna Reich in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor by Otto Nicolai in April 2025. Additional roles sung by Rodriguez include Angelina (Trial by Jury), Titania cover, Cobweb (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Zerlina cover (Don Giovanni), Titine (Le Pauvre Eugénie), and Soprano (Hydrogen Jukebox). In May of 2025, Rodriguez performed selections from West Side Story with the Columbia Orchestra in Columbia, Maryland. Early in her career, Rodriguez performed background vocals to Lin-Manuel Miranda and Christopher Jackson, performing “One Last Time” from Hamilton at the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors with the NEWorks Voices of America Youth Chorus.
In 2025, Rodriguez auditioned and was selected for the U.S. Naval Academy Band. Following recruit training at RTC, Great Lakes, she reported for duty as the vocalist for Electric Brigade, Superintendent’s Combo, and the Wind Ensemble.
