About Us

Navy womens softball is a tight-knit group of midshipmen, dedicated to service, leadership, and cohesion. But beyond the outside image of midshipmen, they are the most passionate group of hard-working women that love the game of softball. Catherine Shaffer, 1/C (2025-'26) quotes, "When I get to practice each girl makes me smile and laugh, and seriously, the environment is always so positive. Our ability to work as a team is so powerful." The midshipmen cultivate lifelong relationships and memories, which goes hand and hand with our competitive spirit on the field.

Paraphrasing from several coaches and fans at the World Series in Columbus GA in 2017, Navy Softball "defines what it really means to be a team." Newcomers admit that the best part about the team is how quickly they can be themselves, playing the sport they love.

Navy was ranked #1 for the first time in November 2017 and maintained their dominance throughout the rest of the season, culminating with a National Championship victory.  In the 2017-18 season, the team overall had a 0.428 batting average, scoring 342 runs in 35 games, taking 101 walks while only striking out 82 times in 1073 plate appearances.  In the 2018-2019 season, the team had an overall batting average of 0.400, scoring 222 runs in 33 games.
