Biography


Commander Lewis Patterson is a Permanent Military Professor and submarine officer. At sea he served as a junior officer on USS Alexandria (SSN 757), as Engineer Officer on USS Louisiana (SSBN 743) (Blue), and as Executive Officer on USS Minnesota (SSN 783). He previously deployed to the CENTCOM and EUCOM Areas of Responsibility, conducted an Arctic Ice Exercise (ICEX), and completed four strategic deterrent patrols in the Pacific.

Ashore he served as an NROTC Instructor at the University of Idaho and Washington State University, on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations Executive Panel (OPNAV N00K), and in the Navy Programming Division (OPNAV N801). He joined the History Department faculty in the summer of 2024.
