LT Daniel J. McCadden, USN
Daniel McCadden is a native of Thornton, Pennsylvania and a 2010 graduate of Villanova University. While at Villanova, Dan participated in the Navy ROTC program. In 2011, he graduated with his Masters of Arts degree in Political Science (American Government) and was commissioned as an Ensign into the Navy.
Dan served aboard USS RAMAGE (DDG 61) from 2012 to 2016. As a division officer, he served as the Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) and Communications Officer (COMMO). RAMAGE deployed to the Sixth Fleet Area of Responsibility for an extended 8-month independent ballistic missile defense deployment. While on deployment, Dan completed all prerequisites and was qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO).
In 2015 Dan assumed the role as Navigator onboard, leading the Executive Department. He deployed again with RAMAGE to Persian Gulf for 8 months as a ballistic missile defense (BMD) asset and directly supporting the HARRY S. TRUMAN CARRIER STRIKE GROUP in Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR).
Currently Dan serves as a Senior Instructor of Political Science at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He is an academic adviser for political science majors, a plebe academic adviser, the Men’s Tennis Officer Representative, and a SWO community mentor.
Personal awards include Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Meritorious Achievement Medal (2 awards). Unit awards include the Battle Efficiency Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation.
