Chaplain Kevin Marshman
A native of Portland, Oregon, Chaplain Kevin W. Marshman graduated from Ambassador Baptist College with a Bachelor of Biblical Studies degree in 2013 and Maranatha Baptist University with a Master of Divinity degree in 2016. He later earned a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in 2024.
Chaplain Marshman was commissioned as a Chaplain Candidate in September of 2014 and superseded to active duty in 2016. He served as a staff chaplain at Recruit Training Command, Naval Station Great Lakes from August 2016 to June 2019. There, he oversaw the Navy’s largest religious ministries volunteer program, spearheaded the development of Naval Service Training Command’s toughness initiative, and served as the Division Officer for the In-Processing and Temporary Holding Units.
He was then assigned to CVN-75, the USS HARRY S. TRUMAN, as the Command Religious Ministries Department Division Officer and took part in their 2019-20 deployment, conducting operations in United States Fifth Fleet and Sixth Fleet. Upon their return, he was appointed the ship’s Habitability Coordinator during an extended shipyard availability period, managing maintenance among contractors, shipyard workers, and ship’s force personnel while providing pastoral care to the crew of over 2,500 Sailors.
Assigned to Marine Forces Special Operations Command from 2021-2024, he was the battalion chaplain for 1st Marine Raider Battalion. He traveled across USCENTCOM, USAFRICOM, and USINDOPACOM supporting operators at the tip of the spear.
He is currently serving as a battalion Chaplain at the United States Naval Academy.
Marshman’s personal awards include three Navy Commendation Medals.
