Chaplain Chancellor Jenkins
Lieutenant Chancellor R. Jenkins a native of Fort Worth, Texas, entered active-duty service in 2018 after four years of civilian pastoral ministry. He is a 2011 graduate of Morehouse College with a bachelor’s degree in religion and received a Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School in 2014. Jenkins completed three Clinical Pastoral Education units accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) at Methodist Dallas Hospital System. He has earned further certificates from the College of Distance Education at the Naval War College.
His first assignment was Command Chaplain of Naval Air Facility El Centro, in California. In this capacity, he oversaw the Religious Care of Military and Allied Personnel and dependents, advising the Commanding Officer and maintaining and enhancing the Command Religious Program on their behalf. He was then assigned to DDG-80, USS ROOSEVELT, Forward Deployed to Commander, SIXTH Fleet area of Operations, as the first embarked Command Chaplain. While assigned, he participated in four deployments and he authored the first Fleet E-OSC (Expanded Operational Stress Control) instruction in all 6 th Fleet FDNF.
He was then assigned as Battalion Chaplain at III MEF Support Battalion and 3d Intelligence Battalion, Forward Deployed Fleet Marine Forces, Okinawa, Japan. During his time, he deployed four times to the Korean peninsula and participated in combined training with the ROK Marine Corps and United States Forces Korea (USFK).He assumed his current role as the 6th Battalion Chaplain at USNA in April 2026.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards
and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards). Jenkins is a Fleet Marine
Force Qualified Officer and Surface Chaplain Qualified Officer.
