Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership
Influence the Influencers
INFLUENCE THE INFLUENCERS
The Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership’s Influence the Influencer initiative strengthens the leadership competencies and confidence of USNA faculty, coaches, and staff as they lead, teach, coach, and develop the Brigade of Midshipmen. This initiative offers a variety of inspirational leadership opportunities to these key influencers due to the generosity and commitment of visionary contributors who value the role of faculty, coaches, and staff in advancing the mission of the Naval Academy.
Bottom line: Leaders grow leaders
Key influencers attend leadership courses at the finest graduate schools and institutes, including Northwestern Kellogg, Harvard, Stanford, and the Center for Creative Leadership.
Faculty, coaches, and staff have the opportunity to be a helmsman aboard a Yard Patrol Craft, sail a NAVY 44, jump from a 10-meter board, walk the flight deck of a nuclear carrier or fly an F/A-18 simulator. Key influencers quickly learn leadership lessons through one-of-a-kind experiences in the fleet.
Gallup Access is a survey platform built upon the valued and renowned Gallup Q12 survey that helps you optimize follower engagement and gives you relevant next steps and learning to maximize team performance.
Individual and group consultation for key influencers in partnership with experienced Leadership Coach graduates. Key influencers are eligible to attend Georgetown University Coaching Skills for Leaders in Higher Education. Additionally, the Stockdale Center assesses individual and departmental strengths via the CliftonStrengths Leadership Inventory & Workshop. Over 22 million people have taken this highly researched web-based assessment identifying signature leadership talents.
The Stockdale Center Influence the Influencer program funds leadership conferences such as the Volgenau Honor, Courage & Commitment Seminar Series – a Spring and Fall leadership luncheon includes midshipmen, faculty, coaches, and staff. Past lunches featured nationally known speakers such as Dr. Ken Blanchard and Mr. Simon Sinek. Additionally, we sponsor an annual department chair leadership conference centered on historical sites and an annual leadership development day for NAAA. Lastly, we host single lectures and provide leadership books for study groups.
Custom education leadership expeditions are available for USNA coaches, faculty and staff. This well-received program continues with 4 expeditions in 2020.
