Experiential Opportunities

We offer a variety of experiential opportunities including weeklong experiential excursions and Staff Rides to historic destinations.

These experiences aim to provide unique opportunities for leadership practice in particular environments, and in turn foster greater bonds between USNA leaders in diverse departments on the yard.

Discover the evolutions that Midshipmen face when they explore the Marine Corps during Leatherneck and the challenges and obstacles that 2nd Lts face during The Basic School (TBS).

New faculty and coaches have an opportunity to take part in a briefunderway aboard an aircraft carrier. Gain a better understanding of the fleet. This experience is a bridge for civilians to connect lessonsfrom the fleet into their spheres of influence.

National Outdoor Leadership School - NOLS

NOLS is a nonprofit global wilderness school designed to push participants out of their comfort zones and into environments that reveal full leadership potential.

The NOLS expedition helps Naval Academy staff of different departments come together, learn from one another, and share a common experience that will help them continue to connect with each other at the Academy. NOLS provides the unique opportunity to practice decision-making that carries real risk and consequences in austere environments.

Having those connections and open lines of communication makes the Midshipmen lives better, makes my life easier. It really does take a village, and if you don’t know everybody in that village it’s a lot more difficult, so those relationships are invaluable. Gettysburg Leadership Encounter

Experience this two-day leadership encounter in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The Gettysburg program facilitates leadership development experiences on the site of one of the most significant engagements in our nation’s history.
