The Department of Navy has set up the Civilian Benefits Center and representatives are available to assist you in making benefits selections as well as assist you with any specific questions you may have about your benefits. Thrift Savings Plan (TSP)

Important Information on Pension Plan Contributions for 2022
  • The contribution limit for employees who participate in 401(k), 403(b), most 457 plans, and the federal government's TSP maximum contribution limit has increased from $19,500 to $20,500.
  •  The catch-up contribution limit for employees aged 50 and over who participate the federal government’s TSP remains unchanged at $6,500. Therefore, participants in TSP who are 50 and older can contribute up to $27,000, starting in 2022. Your election will carry over each year unless you submit a new one.                                                                       
Eligible Period
  • If you’re a FERS or CSRS employee or a BRS member who began or rejoined federal service after October 1, 2020, your agency or service automatically enrolled you in the TSP, and 5% of your basic salary is deducted from your paycheck every pay period and deposited into the traditional balance of your TSP account1 unless you made a contribution election to stop or change your contributions. If you’re a BRS member who stopped your contributions during the year, you are automatically re-enrolled at 5% of your basic pay on January 1.

    If you’re a FERS or CSRS employee or a BRS member who began or rejoined federal service between August 1, 2010, and September 30, 2020, you were automatically enrolled at 3%.
