A Varity of Direct Counseling Services are Provided by the MDC
Individual Counseling
- General Counseling: common reasons that midshipmen seek general counseling include: stress management, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, test anxiety, family problems, etc.
- Nutrition Counseling: midshipmen typically seek individual nutrition counseling for: Sports nutrition, weight management, disordered eating, medical dietary needs, etc.
- Counseling for disordered eating: Sometimes midshipmen come to USNA with disordered eating attitudes and behaviors, and sometimes these attitudes and behaviors develop and/or worsen during their time here at the Academy. We are here to help.
- Psychological trauma: Recognizing the impact that a traumatic experience can have in psychological and physiological wellness is the foundation of trauma-informed treatment. This can be approached and achieved from multiple trauma-informed services provided by MDC.
- Performance Psychology: Mental skills training for midshipmen who are trying to achieve their optimal performance in athletics and military performances. Mental Skills can be used in many areas, such as performance on the PRT, test taking, athletic competitions, SEAL screener, etc.
