Commitment

Our externship program starts just before the Fall semester begins in August and ends at the conclusion of the Spring semester in May. Once we select our externs, we expect that they have committed to the duration of the externship year. Participation in the entire program is required to complete it.

We also ask that externs attend one day prior to the start of the externship. Induction Day (aka I-Day) is significant on the Yard (i.e., our campus) as it is the first day of our Plebe class (i.e., our freshmen). I-Day is an intensive day, and observing the activities provides a wonderful introduction to the life of a Midshipman. I-Day occurs on or about June 30 each year.
