Jerome L. Nurse
Senior Chief Petty Officer Nurse enlisted on active duty in 2000 from Fort Hamilton, NY. After completing Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, IL, he attended Aviation Ordnance “A” school in Pensacola, FL where he graduated as an honor student. AW/SW
Senior Chief Nurse’s initial set of orders were STRKFITRON THREE FOUR (VFA-34), an F/A-18 Hornet squadron located in Virginia Beach, VA. He qualified as Team Leader and Collateral Duty Inspector for all ordnance loading evolutions. In June 2002, he deployed on board the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) and subsequently on the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CVN-67).
March 2005, Senior Chief Nurse reported to Navy Recruiting District New York, and worked out of Navy Recruiting Station East Orange as a recruiter. He took over as the Recruiter-In-Charge January 2008 and was later meritoriously advanced to Petty Officer First Class under the Recruiting Command Advancement Program (RCAP). He later converted to the Navy Counselor Rating in February 2009.
December 2009, Senior Chief Nurse reported to Navy Recruiting District Miami, and worked out of Navy Recruiting Station South Fort Myers as the Leading Petty Officer. He became the Assistant Division Leading Petty Officer and later qualified as a Division Leading Petty Officer February 2011.
January 2013, he reported to Navy Recruiting District Richmond as a Reserve Medical Officer Recruiter, stationed out of Bethesda, MD. In November 2014, he was reassigned to Northern Virginia as the Division Leading Chief Petty Officer.
December 2017, Senior Chief Nurse reported to the Senior Enlisted Academy, Newport, RI and served as a faculty advisor from February 2018 – December 2019. He was selected for the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Program during this tour.
Senior Chief Nurse is currently serving as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) in Newport RI. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting from Post University.
Senior Chief Nurse is qualified to wear the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) pins and his decorations include: Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medals (5), Good Conduct Awards (5), and an array of citations and other unit awards.
