Midshipmen who perform exceptionally well in all mission areas are honored by special Superintendent's, Academic Dean's or Commandant's List recognition. The criteria for each list are shown below. Midshipmen achieving each honor receive a notification letter and the privileges indicated. Criteria and recognition for each Honor List are shown below.
Superintendent's List
Criteria. Midshipmen who meet the following criteria will be placed on the Superintendent's List:
- SQPR of at least 3.4 with no grade of D, F, or I in any course,
- Must complete a course load of at least 15 credit hours, which is the standard minimum academic workload for any semester at USNA,
- A in Conduct,
- A in Military Performance, and
- A or B in Physical Education and A or B in Physical Readiness Test.
Recognition. Midshipmen on the Superintendent's List will receive the following Recognition:
- Qualified to wear a gold star on uniform
- Notation on grade report
Academic Dean's List
Criteria. Midshipmen who meet the following criteria and are not on the Superintendent's List will be placed on the Academic Dean's List:
- SQPR of at least 3.4 with no grade of D, F, or I in any course,
- Must complete a course load of at least 15 credit hours, which is the standard minimum academic workload for any semester at USNA,
- B in Conduct,
- B in Military Performance, and
- C or better in Physical Education and C or better on Physical Readiness Test.
Recognition. Midshipmen on the Academic Dean's List will receive the following recognition:
- Qualified to wear bronze star on uniform
- Notation on grade report
Commandant's List
Criteria. Midshipmen who meet the following criteria will be placed on the Commandant's List:
- SQPR of at least 2.9
- Must complete a course load of at least 15 credit hours, which is the standard minimum academic workload for any semester at USNA,
- An A in Conduct
- An A or B in Aptitude
- An A or B in PE
- An A or B on the PRT
Recognition. Midshipmen on the Commandant's List will receive the following recognition:
- Qualified to wear silver star on uniform
- Notation on grade report
- Privileges as the Commandant may direct.
